Sports have always been a big part of my life. They taught me life lessons, kept me out of trouble, gave me lifelong friendships and memories and made me the person I am today.

On March 12, 2012 - we ran our first program. I had been coaching for 11 years at this point. But even after all those years - I never really knew what my coaching style or my coaching philosophy were.

The alums will tell you - I am not the same today as I was back then. I am okay with that. I love evolving. Change is healthy and fun and exciting.

MY COACHING STYLE

I have expectations. I will hold myself, my coaches and my players accountable.

I come prepared. I come with a plan and with purpose.

I am vocal regardless of my proximity.

I do not let mistakes go.

I like high intensity practices but I appreciate and understand the importance of slowing things down.

All feedback is important, corrective but constructive and positive reinforcement.

MY COACHING PHILOSOPHY

The position I have allows me to work with both athletes and coaches.

And both are equally important.

I am most passionate about mentoring and empowering. Guiding my athletes to see value in the lessons and the experiences surrounding them while they play club. Empowering them by building their confidence and their life skills in an effort to prepare them for life beyond the game, beyond sports, beyond this moment in their life. I love field hockey. I love sports. But it is a part of life.

I am also extremely passionate about providing the same environment for my coaches. It is so important that they have access to information and resources. I want to build their confidence, improve their knowledge, expand their community. Collaboration is really important to me. We all bring something to the table.

MY DIRECTOR PHILOSOPHY

I am always looking to evolve. I have a heightened sense of awareness. Always listening, watching and brainstorming. Even in the moment - I am planning for the future.

Programs, curriculums, terminology, expectations are all fluid.

Growth, transformation, progression. Yes, yes and yes.

This is a team sport - but the decisions regarding an individual are made with that individual in mind. Athletes all need different things at different times. What is good for one, is not good for another, even if they are from the same town or same family, they are the same age, have played the same amount of time, had the same coaches.

We have to consider the person, physically, mentally, emotionally, intellectually, socially.

I never make an uneducated decision. I am always using my experiences and my knowledge to drive my decisions. If there is something I do a certain way - there is a reason. I am always weighing the pros and cons.
